The super 4 match of the asia cup between india and pakistan is to be played on 2nd july 2008.
It seems that it will be the first time in the history that pakistan / india match will be played ina mere empty stadium -
I predict 50% audience , and 30% policemen.
Just like we have seen empty stands in almost all the matches of the asia cup, I think this india / pakistan match will be played in a mere deserted stand.
history in the making!
Ex Pakistan army men, who were once the main players in the zia's dictatorial setup, have this time stood up against Pervez musharraf for democracy in the country.
With the forgiving and forgetful nation we are, may be in 2 decades time, will see pervez musharraf joining hands with the masses to oust some other dictator of that time.
What goes around comes around.
The government has imposed a flat duty of Rs. 500/set irresepctive of the value of the set.
A cheaper set will have the same duty as the expensive set, which does not make a fair deal.
Mobile sets ranging from Rs.1800 to Rs.90000 are available in the market. Leveing a flat duty of Rs. 500 / set is illogical as the a person who is buying a cheaper set is paying the same duty as the person buying an expensive set.
May be this is one way of removing the difference between rich and the poor.
A few years ago we went to Lahore, Islamabad on our summer vacations and stayed at the five star hotels.
The women of our family wanted to swim at their pool and set out to swim there in our cultural swimming dress, which is track suit and t-shirt.
The swimming attendant did not let them swim on the pretext that they cannot swim in track suit - tshirt but in proper swim suit.
On arguing with the swimming attendant they conceded that other guests using the pool objects on people in full swim dresses.
That sounded a very lame excuse but we had no other option but not to use the facility.
This time around we went to Dubai, Thailand and Malaysia. Being in a more progressive country, we were of the view that they would not be allowed to swim in the hotel pools, but on inquiring the hotel staff, they allowed them to swim in their track suit , tshirt and even head scarf. On visiting the pool in Malaysia and Dubai we noticed many muslims and locals using the pool in full covered suits and even head scarfs.
It was astonishing how we, being in a muslim country, were not accomodated in our own country but other more progressive countries made exception and allowed us to use their facility and respected our religious value.
The word FREE is being misused and abused by the mobile phone companies.
We come across offers like "FREE unlimited sms" and in the fineprint it says Rs. 75 for 15 days.
Similar is the case in "FREE friends and family number" and in the finerprint it reads Rs. 4.75 / hour
As we have been knowing for ages that the word "FREE" means without any payment.
So in mobile companies' case, how is the service free when we are made to pay for the usage of the service ?
Daily, we are being bombarded with misinformed and misleading advertisements, which are shrewdly topped and coveredup with so very attractive and eye catching ad films that the big blunders go unnoticed.
Will anyone check on this misconduct by the mobile service provider companies ?
